However, you may not get to see those trending hashtags or hear high octane “Nation wants to know” cry anymore. The Editor-in-chief of Times Now announced on Tuesday that he is quitting the Times Group. He made the announcement at a meeting with Times Now employees.

According to a source in Times Now, a few editors and reporters were called in specifically for the meeting in which he announced that he was quitting. The meeting started at 4:30 PM and went on till about 5:30 PM. During his hour long speech, Arnab Goswami several times uttered words like “The game has just begun” and “Independent media is going to thrive”. According to thequint.com, the sources within Times Now have hinted that Arnab Goswami may have been in discussions with another organisation to set up a new television and digital news venture for the past six months. It was also indicated that at least a handful of Times Now employees will move to the new project along with him.

Arnab Goswami shot to fame with his firebrand imposing journalism as anchor of Newshour Debate at Times Now. He single-handedly took Times Now to number one position, which it continues to hold till date. According the Broadcast Audience Research Council India (BARC) Times Now is the top rated English News channel in the country by a massive margin. The name Times Now has become synonymous with Arnab Goswami and vice-versa. Such has been his impact that Times Now may not remain same without him.
