The Avengers Infinity War trailer is here and it has already been the gazillionth time since I pressed the replay button to watch it again. The trailer is nothing short of gorgeous. Captain America now sports a million dollar beard while our beloved Tony Stark’ frowny face has broken a million hearts already. But with all the oomph factor ozzing out, one critical detail was almost missed by scores of fans. What about Loki and the Tesseract he was holding. Who was he offering it to?

More importantly, will Loki end up betraying the Avengers and his brother and side with Thanos?

Spoilers incoming for Thor: Ragnarok!! Look away simpletons…..

The latest MCU movie to grace the silver screens was Thor: Ragnarok. Apart from the comic humor and Jeff Goldblum’s phenomenal portrayal of Grandmaster, there was one more thing that swayed the audiences. The God of Mischief finally found light at the end of the tunnel and decided to turn into a good guy (of sorts). He helped his brother defeat Hela and save his people from total annihilation. It made his character much more deep and gave Loki one more facet that no one ever knew existed. It showed that Loki….. cared.

But in the Infinity War trailer, Loki is seen walking over the corpses of the very people he helped save and hand over the Tesseract aka Space Gem to Thanos supposedly. Did he betray the Asgardians or was it an act of surrender after his people were wiped off by Thanos’ forces in search of the Stone?

As much as we would like to believe otherwise, he is the God of Mischief after all. Loki is  master of lies and deceit. Maybe the original ‘true’ villain of the MCU decided it was too bright and went back to the dark side.

But we have no reason to believe the Loki-turning-evil-again Theory too. Loki is a Trickster God. Maybe he is just pulling off one of his famous illusions in that scene and tricking the Mad Titan to buy some time. Maybe he is just planning to run off with the Tesseract all to himself.
