The first teaser trailer for Disney Pixar’s Cars 3 is out and it surprisingly reveals a dark and disturbing tone for the movie. Certainly something that would not appeal kids at the first glance.

First movie was released back in 2006 and followed a Car named Lightning McQueen, a jolly and lighthearted story about his escapades. Pixar’s was praised for their creativity and reanimating life in cars, and it worked well. A sequel followed on 2011 that wasn’t as successful as the prequel but it maintained the tone of the film.

With Cars 3 however, things are looking quite different. Its is also a possibility that Pixar might be looking to wrap this trilogy on a dark and serious note. Pixar has previously stated that they won’t do sequels anymore, aside from a few exceptions like Toy Story and Cars.

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!

Cars 3 is an upcoming American 3D computer-animated film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The film is being directed by Brian Fee, a storyboard animator on the first two films.
