Fullmetal Alchemist is getting a live-action adaptation and we have got our first look. The live-action movies official site has released the first Fullmetal Alchemist Teaser and it’s quite appealing. I was personally quite skeptical of the skeptical of the idea of a live-action Fullmetal Alchemist (still a bit skeptical) but the Elric Brothers and the alchemy are back in its full glory in the first Fullmetal Alchemist Teaser.

The teaser gives us our first look at Ryōsuke Yamada as Edward Elric and shows a CGI Alphonse. The transmutation being done in Transmutation circles are quite well done as the things disintegrate. We don’t get to see much of the steampunk world but it looks great. While Alphonse’s face was not shown, we did see a full-fledged CGI chimera getting into a fight with Ed holding his iconic bo staff (This scene made me more excited about the alchemists vs homunculi action sequences).

We don’t get to hear anything from the characters except when Edward rests his head against his brother’s torso and says, ” I promise I’ll get our bodies back.”

Fumihiko Sori is directing the project. It has not been revealed who is voicing Al but other characters have been cast. The expectations are quite high. It will definitely never surpass Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood but could still be a decent adaptation. Sori said, “I want to create a style that follows the original manga as much as possible. The Fullmetal Alchemist live action cast is entirely Japanese, but the cultural background is Europe. However, it’s a style that doesn’t represent a specific race or country.” Since the characters in Fullmetal Alchemist Anime and manga are of non-Japanese ethnicity Siro stated, “There will never be a scene in which a character says something that would identify him/her as Japanese.” Even the film has been shot in Italy.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood has always been my all time favorite anime and I can’t wait for the movie which will be out in winter next year. If you can’t wait for it just like me then start rewatching the anime already!
