First came the Google nexus with its incredible range of phones and premium build which made Google a tough contender in the Smartphone race but now the Nexus era is over and Google has finally released its brand new series of phones, Google PIXEL.

The base-level phone will be available in two sizes: L with a 5 inch display and the XL with a 5.5 inch display, both of them being encased in Gorilla Glass 4. The phone’s look is absolutely similar to Apple’s IPhone design except it doesn’t have a button on it. The rear of the device is made of glass and metal with a fingerprint reader in the center, along with an Google’s  “G” logo along the bottom. There is also no camera bump.

Pixel  also has a very impressive camera. “This isn’t only the best smartphone camera we’ve ever made but the best smartphone camera ever made.”, has been stated by Google. The phone features a 12.3-megapixel rear camera (with an f/2.0 lens) and 8-megapixels on the front. A new “smart burst” mode can be used to capture a stream of shots and then Google’s artificial intelligence software provides you the clearest shot. The camera also uses HDR+ which provide “zero shutter lag” to achieve maximum dynamic range for every shot.

PIXEL will boast a quad-core Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB of RAM and not much but a decent battery of 2770 mAh which can quickly charge up to seven hours of battery life in 15 minutes. The XL features a better 3,450 mAh battery. The phones will give 13 and 14 hours of battery life in a single charge, respectively. The Pixel will provide 32GB and 128GB storage.

Google’s main attraction has been its assistant software called Google Assistant which is more advanced than the Google Now voice assistant on other Android phones. Previous android users can check it out as a chat bot in Google’s new messanger, Allo. Google Assistant is a good competitor to Siri and Cortana.
A huge announcement has been Google’s virtual reality platform, Daydream. Both Pixel phones are the first to support Daydream. The new Daydream headset will be required for a fully immersive viewing experience. It will allow users to play several VR games and watch videos on YouTube, Netflix, and HBO directly while having the virtual reality experience.
