October 2nd is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti across the nation. This day marks the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and India’s second prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. In more modern context, two years ago on October 2nd, the current prime minister Mr. Narendra Modi launched Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA). SBA is the biggest cleanliness drive ever undertaken by the nation targeting rural and developed areas alike. In two years, the campaign has been pretty successful in achieving its aim with famous and regular people working together and taking necessary steps to make surrounding clean and free from disease. SBA was launched to meet the Goal-6 Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030 as decided in United Nations Sustainable Development Summit 2015.
