Constantine won the hearts and minds of many a fans when Matt Ryan wore the coat as the iconic foul-mouthed Wizard. So when NBC abruptly cancelled the show after its first season, likewise it broke many hearts. Wipe away those tears people! News is fans will again see Matt Ryan back as Constantine in Legends of Tomorrow Season 3.
After a brief stint in an episode of CW’s The Arrow, Matt will be seen again lighting his cigarette in a 2 part episode in Legends after the Flash-Arrow-LoT-Supergirl 4 way Crossover. Phil Klemmer, the Legends of Tomorrow show-runner has this to say –
“As for the character of Constantine, we knew that an alienated, chain-smoking, bisexual, world-weary demonologist would feel right at home among our Legends. His appearance in episode 310 will involve the following: a revisiting of Arrow season four and the events following that season’s finale episode; a confrontation with this season’s Big Bad on Legends — the name we’ve only heard whispered until now Mallus; some hot sex — something that has been in short supply on the Waverider thus far in season three; and Damien Darhk (Neil McDonough), bec“ause how can you do an episode about dark magic and not have Damien Darhk? More than anything, the episode promises to be scary as you know what — tonally it’s The Exorcist meets One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. Demonic possession in a mental institution, what’s not to love?”
With the extended trailer of the Legends out, we see a lot going on in season 3. Kid Flash, Gorilla Grodd, Fuckin vampires and shit. A resurrected Damien Darhk is slated to be at odds again with our time travelling protagonists. And to add more to the mystcial element, Darhk wont be the only magic user in the show. John Constantine will prove to be more than a match. Darhk’s witty one liners versus Constantine’s shrewd sense of humor. Interesting encounters cometh.
Ryan will also do a voice-over for his character’s animated counterpart in Constantine to be released next year on CW seed.
Legends of Tomorrow will have Mallus as the primary antagonist for this season. No one named as such is in the comic books so its probably an alias. Whats more is that there is some kind of connection between Constantine and Mallus. And of course with so many big bad wolves there will have to be a new Legion of Doom. Fan hype is moving at the pace of a colossal landslide now 🙂 .
Its been more than 2 years since we saw the fan favorite Ryan donning the mantle of the Hellblazer. Taking pity on the fans writhing and screaming in pain, the Gods of CW have blessed us dearly. With Ryan making an appearance, lets hope the Legends live up to their namesake.
Starring Brandon Routh as the Atom, Caity Loitz as the White Canary, Victor Garber and Franz Drameh as Firestorm, Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, Dominic Purcell as Heatwave, Nick Zano as Commander Steel, and Maisie Richardson-Sellers as the Vixen, The Legends of Tomorrow hits TV screens today. Watch out 😉
