Yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali is all set to explore apparel market under the brand name of ‘Paridhan’. It will manufacture both traditional and modern clothes for men and women. Paridhan will launch jeans and office wear as first line of clothes by end of the year. International brands rule India’s apparel market. Hence, the next stop in Baba Ramdev’s modern swadeshi movement is garments industry.

In an interview with The Telegraph on Sunday, Baba Ramdev said –

“Just because I am a baba does not mean we cannot marry modernity with spirituality, we can make, let’s say desi jeans. The idea (of the apparel brand) started with some followers asking me for Patanjali yoga wear. Then we thought ‘why not a whole range of dresses – Paridhaan – for everyone’? If we are fighting to bring economic independence for our country from multinationals by promoting indigenous and natural products, we should also be in the garments market.”

Patanjali is also in process of launching its FMCG products in international markets. It may also enter Pakistan and Afghanistan in future if. It has already entered Azerbaijan and a top industrialist there has shown interest in his products.

“We have already set up our units in Nepal and Bangladesh. Our products have reached the Middle East and became popular in some of the countries, including Saudi Arabia. We should be concentrating in poor countries as the profits from those countries will be utilized for development work there itself. There is a huge vacuum for quality products and Patanjali enjoys enormous public loyalty that ensures success.”

Meanwhile, Baba Ramdev’s clothing venture has given twitteratis new topic for hot discussion and loads of fun. While some people just couldn’t believe this news, others suggested Patanjali to launch more new products. Check out some of them below –
