With the hype train for Justice League attaining maximum speed, director David F. Sandberg has given another exciting news for DC fans. Yes, you guessed it right! Shazam! is on its original track to be released in April, 2019. As planned by Warner Bros. originally back in their first Comic-Con appearance for DCEU, Shazam! has seemed to stick to the schedule.


Director David F. Sandberg, who rose to fame for his usage of practical effects over CGI in horror movies like Lights Out and Annabelle : Creation was chosen for Shazam! back in July. Recommended by friend cum horror director James Wan, who will be directing Aquaman himself, Sandberg has been brewing the excitement with his witty remarks on Twitter.

Recently, Sandberg confirmed the the release month for Shazam! on a thread on Reddit.


Earlier this summer, Sandberg admitted that he wasn’t too aware of Shazam! growing up. With his inclusion, he has reportedly invested a lot of time studying the character in depth to cater to the devout fans of Shazam.


According to trusted reporters, Shazam! will start shooting from February until May, in Ontario. Earlier, it was speculated that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson would star in the movie playing Shazam’s arch-nemesis Black Adam. But later, it was revealed that the mega star would star in his own solo movie instead.

Warner Bros. has been reportedly eyeing WWE Superstar John Cena for the role of Shazam!, if reports are to be believed. With Cena’s retirement from the Wrestling World, it does seem that he will actually portray the superhero.
