The suit wearing, faceless, tentacle wielding monster, who is found charming by some people.
(slenderman’s mark which he makes when he kills someone)
The legend of slender man is one of the most intriguing ones in modern time. Slenderman was born on June 10, 2009 as a harmless meme on the “something awful internet forum”, who could have ever thought that a meme could become something so sinister. The original poster (“Victor Surge”) posted two photographs, to enter a photoshoping competition. But along with the photographs he also entered small paragraphs, written to mimic a victim’s or a witness’s testimony. The photographs were just images of children in which he had photoshopped a long, lean suit wearing figure. The paragraphs were what first brought more attention to the photographs.
Under the first photograph, he wrote
We didn’t want to go, we didn’t want to kill them, but its persistent silence and outstretched arms horrified and comforted us at the same time…
— 1983, photographer unknown, presumed dead. Under the second one, he wrote
One of two recovered photographs from the Stirling City Library blaze. Notable for being taken the day which fourteen children vanished and for what is referred to as “The SlenderMan”. Deformities cited as film defects by officials. Fire at library occurred one week later. Actual photograph confiscated as evidence.
— 1986, photographer: Mary Thomas, missing since June 13th, 1986.
But what is the most disturbing part is that people are taking this fictional character and make it a reality. Games, stories and even murders are been committed on this urban legend.
A 12-year old girl was nearly stabbed to death by her friends in pursuit of becoming friends with the faceless man in a suit. (Link: – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slender_Man_stabbing). Both the girls, who tried to kill the victim are now in jail
What are your thoughts of Slenderman?. Because personally, humans are way more terrifying than any urban monster. Please comment below and share if you like my content. I’ll appreciate it.
