The TV spot trailer for Lucas Films’ latest addition the the Star Wars franchise – Solo: A Star Wars Story is here. While the trailer was short and most moments were a ‘blink and you will miss it’, there were still some moments tat did catch our eye. What does the movie entail? What secrets does the trailer hide? Presenting Solo: A Star Wars Story – Complete Trailer Breakdown….
A Brand New Millennium Falcon
While the trailer did show Han’s personal ride, it wasn’t much. From what we can gather, the Millennium Falcon wasn’t always the rust bucket as it is portrayed in the movies. The interiors were brand new. Maybe after Han acquires it, it gets back its homely, brownish tin can look for the better.
Han’s Imperial Recruitment
Han’s previous history with the Empire, prior to his changing sides, was never fully explored within the mainstream Star Wars continuity. But that is about to change. Han wanted to be a pilot. He even enlisted into the Imperial Forces. That is how he met Chewie (the Wookies were enslaved by the Empire). All that will be explored in depth within the movie.
The villain in the trailer is called Moloch. Considering a lack of bad guys in the trailer, he is our best bet for now. Stuntman Harley Durst portrays him in the movie. Moloch’s past is shrouded in mystery so we guess we have to wait some more to really know why he is trading fists with Han and Co.
In the Legends universe (now non-canon), Han’s mentor is called Garris Shrike. While Woody Harrelson plays Tobias Beckett, his character bears a lot of resemblance to Shrike, the tough love mentor of Han Solo. In the trailer, Beckett is seen fighting Moloch. Is that how he goes? His life and death will shape Han Solo in a major way.
The gorgeous Mother of Dragons of Game of Thrones fame, Emilia Clarke, portrays the mysterious Qi’Ra in the movie. No one really knows who she is or where she comes from. Han Solo has had several female ‘acquaintances ‘in the past. Is she one of Han’s ex-flames who has come to him for help after having no one else to g to??
The Millennium Falcon made the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs. But what the hell is a Kessel Run? Judging from the looks of it, the Kessel is actually a dangerous part of unknown space that doubles as a massive electrical storm filled with lovecraftian entities. And Han Solo bragging about him doing the Run in 12 parsecs (a measurement of distance) might mean that he did it in a distance shorter than what was thought could be achieved. Bottomline – There are no shortcuts through Kessel, Han was the first to find one. And we will see how he did it in the movie.
Lando Calrissian will most certainly be one of the greatest highlights of the movie. The super talented Donald Glover portrays him in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Let us hope he can bring back the same style and panache that Billy Dee Williams managed to pull off in The Empire Strikes back. The Galaxy’s most renowned gambler is finally returning to the Big Screen.
