Rick Grimes returns y’all. And he brings back truckloads of chaos with him. After a (mostly) awesome seventh season, the former Sheriff’s deputy and his gang returns for another season of mayhem. The award winning AMC series had always been unimpeachable. Can they repeat their past success? Or will they just fade into mediocrity that most TV shows are prone to after consecutive seasons? Heres what we know so far about the Walking Dead Season 8.

Season 7 Spoiler Alert!!! The faint-hearted must shoo…..

  1.Wars coming:

After the explosive ending of season 7, it would be hard imagining Negan and Rick not being at odds. Alexandria has put up with too much shit now. Its time to fight back. The Death of Sasha would be a major plot point this season. No one (other than us)knows how she died. Rick will be blaming Negan for this. A deathmatch is inevitable. Abraham and Glenn are unforgettable casualties. A lot others died when the scavengers switched sides and turned on the good guys. Sweet vengeance is coming fellas. The walkers are gonna have the feast of a lifetime this season.

  2. Who will die:

Season 7 killed off a lot of major characters. The Walking Dead was never shy when it comes to killing off fan favorite characters. RIP Glenn, Abraham and Sasha 🙁 . With the storm that’s coming to their doorsteps, there is no sliver of doubt among fans that many more of the Grimes Gang are gonna end up pushing daisies. Kirkman’s “All Out War” storyline is the template for this season.

A fan theory suggests Daryl will finally bite the dust. After Rick, he is second in the Savior’s naughty list. Speculation is rife that it just might be Rick who stops breathing this time. He has escaped death quite a couple of times. Will Season 8 be his tombstone? Ezekiel and Maggie are also viable candidates. No matter what, the deaths will leave aftershocks too big to ignore this time.

  3. Traitors or Double Agents- Dwight & Eugene:

The show exposed Dwight as a sort of not-so-lovable anti hero. We see his inner demons wrestling for control with that small ray of light dwindling inside him. As season 7 progresses, Dwight realizes Negan is a twisted asshole who will never mend his ways. To end his reign of terror, he joins hands with Rick and Daryl. Yet he never did tell them about Jadis and her group double crossing Alexandria. He leaves a “Didn’t know” note on one of his wooden figures for Daryl to find. A big question mark trails his allegiance this time.

While Dwight may or may not have switched sides, fans are mostly certain Eugene will come back to the light. He may be Negan’s lapdog now. The saviors did give him something his last family never could- Respect and Power. From a coward and a traitor he becomes one of Negan’s prized assets. Yet with all that oomph he did help Sasha with the suicide pill showing he still cares for his old gang. Our resident hillbilly smartass might just have his shot at redemption.

  4. The Untold Story of Heath and Sherry:

The showruuners confirm its not the last we see of Sherry. It was Sherry that kept Dwight being loyal to Negan. With Sherry’s heartbreaking departure(God I loved that scene!), her Ex is finally pushed to the edge. In the comics though, Sherry returns as a cunning badass to torment Rick and the Alexandrians. No longer the saint, Sherry is the new antagonist after The Whisperers arc. The show will follow the comics from now on. Will we see her again?

Heath is a completely different question. His story arc is no longer based on the comics so there is no way to derive any intel on whats in store for him. Leaving behind nothing but a PPP card, Heath’s story arc is not yet complete and may just be vital to the show. He may have his reasons for leaving behind Tara like that.

  5. The Fate of Negan:

Oh he is staying my friend. For a lot, lot more time than you think. His very presence might be pungent for a lot of the characters in the show. He killed Glenn. He killed Abraham. Sasha’s death is partly on him. Yet lucille wont stop swinging anytime soon. The show is already slated to stick closely to the comic books from now on. In the comics, Negan doesn’t actually die per se. He is imprisoned for a long time and later comes out of that cocoon as a good guy. Remember Morgan building a cell in Alexandria. The place where Dwight was held. Its time to put it to use.

  6. The ‘Old Man Rick’ Theory:

Could mean one of three things: Time Jump or a dead Rick or my personal favorite- Rick finally waking up from that coma to realize it was all just a dream. The trailer shows Rick with a beard as grey and long as Gandalf’s. Death could cannot be ruled out as a possibility since there are serious rumors of a MAJOR character dying. I stress on ‘Major’ because many sources confirm it to be Rick including Andrew Lincoln, the guy who plays him. Yet the time leap theory holds as much weight. Coming from Kirkman’s “A New Beginning” story arc, the bearded Rick incredibly resembles the Rick from the arc which unfolds multiple years after the war ends.

The third theory? Well I will just leave it to your good judgement 😉

When does Season 8 premiere?

Premiering on October 22, 2017, Season 8 will have an action packed story that will pick up right where Season 7 left us. If I were you, I would free up my schedule. Its gonna be a freakin’ blast!!!
