Academy Awards 2017 nominees list is finally out and movie enthusiasts are all ready to root for their favourite nominated stars and movies to win big but what if your choice of star is pulled out of the race even before it started? Apparently, the Oscars official website pulled off a Steve Harvey this year by announcing two wrong nominees in the major categories, Best Actor and Best Actress. The site announced Tom Hanks being nominated for his titular role in ‘Sully’, and Amy Adams being nominated for her role in the Sci-fi movie ‘Arrival’. ABC Digital, later on, apologized for naming Amy Adams and Tom Hanks as Oscars 2017 nominees by mistake on the official Oscars website.

ABC released the following statement after the blunder, “This morning, in an attempt to release breaking news as announced, ABC Digital briefly posted inaccurate nomination information on the website. The nominees announced by the Academy on Twitter were accurate. ABC quickly identified and corrected the errors. We apologize to the Academy, press, and fans for any confusion.”

It’s a really shattering news for the fans who enjoyed their work in their respective movies. Though Amy Adams not being nominated is being considered a big snub for Academy Awards 2017. Arrival directed by Denis Villeneuve was quite well received this year and the movie itself got nominated in 8 categories for Oscars 2017 (not counting the Best Actress mistake).

ABC digital corrected the mistake on the site. “Amy Adams, Arrival” got replaced with “Ruth Negga, Loving” in the best actress category while Hanks was removed from the best actor nominees list because he was an extra Nominee.

Adams had no idea about this mistake ever happening until after it being corrected. She was trending on Twitter after the nomination and she still is with her fans showing their disappointment.

Oscars 2017 will be taking place on February 26, 2017 at the Dolby Theatre Hollywood, Los Angeles.
