Another militant attack on battalion headquarters of 30 Rashtriya Rifles in Kashmir’s Handwara was foiled by the alert army forces early morning of Thursday. The militants opened fire on two RR sentry posts in separate areas of Handwara. Following the attack, they tried to flee but army and Special Operation Group of Police chased them and engaged in an encounter. In the course, three militants were killed and three AK rifles were recovered from them. The militants were wearing combat dresses. Two Army personnel have reportedly been injured in the attack, but no casualties reported so far. The search operation of other militants is still in progress.

Initial reports suggest the group may have recently infiltrated from across the LoC and could be belonging to the terror outfit Lashker-e-Toiba. The 30 RR camp in Handwara was attacked, and the firing is reported to have lasted for 30 minutes in the first round. The second round of intermittent firing resumed again around 7 in the morning.
During a press briefing later, which you can watch above, an army spokesperson said that the arms, maps, medicines and, food items were recovered. The food items and medicines bore ‘Pakistani markings’ on them thereby proving their base of operation. The increasing number of militant attacks since the last week clearly shows how much the Pakistan government is rattled by the surgical strikes performed by India.
