After months of teasing, the first Logan trailer is out. Emotions are on all time high as Logan, the third sequel in Wolverine franchise, is the last time Hugh Jackman will be donning the mutant with claw. And this is clearly evident in the trailer. The movie is a swan song to Jackman’s time playing Wolverine in X-Men Universe. In the trailer, you can see Logan as a hurting character who has lost too many people in his unnaturally long life. He has lived two timelines. The trailer puts him in a desolate world where, it seems, mutants are gone and only Professor Xavier is barely alive. Johnny Cash’s “Hurt” seems like a rather obvious soundtrack choice for a movie that’s all about how the main character is hurting. We also get to see the X-23 who also has the same powers as Logan, whose power is fading away.
If the trailer wasn’t evident enough, Logan will be the darkest film in X-Men franchise. Though the movie is adopting Old Man Logan storyline from comics, still, there is a good chance Hugh Jackman’s Logan will not be making out alive from the final installment. The premise of Logan reads –
Set in the future of 2024, Logan and Professor Charles Xavier must cope with the loss of the X-Men when a corporation led by Nathaniel Essex is destroying the world leaving it to destruction, with Logan’s healing abilities slowly fading away and Xavier’s Alzheimer’s forcing him to forget. Logan must defeat Nathaniel Essex with the help of a young girl named Laura Kinney, a female clone of Wolverine.
Directed by James Mangold and starring Hugh Jackman, Sienna Novikov, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Patrick Stewart, Logan is set for March 3, 2017 release
