Rockstar Games announced Red Dead Redemption 2 on October 18, 2016, with the first trailer to be released on October 20. In the two days prior, the company had used Twitter to tease two images in the color and theme of Red Dead Redemption, indicating that it was related to a sequel. The teaser images led to considerable attention and raised the stock price of its distributor Take-Two Interactive from $42.50 per share to $45.50. After it was announced for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, fans petitioned Rockstar for the game to be made available on the PC as well.
